Going to be doing a shoot in the field and need to save the footage on the p2 to my hard drive. This is my first time with the HVX and as far as I have searched I found that it records to .m2t and you have to have a driver on your computer to recognize the p2 card (which I dlled already).

So I'm going to be on the PC side and need to know how to either save like a flash card, capture or ...? To get the footage off my 32gb p2 card and onto my lappy (which will later be transferred to my desktop via external hard drive for post)

Thanks!

Win XP
HP zd8000
3.0 HT P4
2gb RAM
ATi Radion x600
Can use either Edius Broadcast v4.6 or Vegas 8 Pro w/raylight if needed

No, it records to MXF. M2T is an AVCHD format.

Mount the card, make a new folder (one folder per card offload), and copy the entire card contents to that folder. That folder should be on an external drive connected to the computer.

M2T is file extension usually used for HDV. AVCHD usually use MTS or M2TS. All of these extensions are usually used for MPEG TS files.

Yeah i googled my question and found a similar forum post but it was for a JVC cam, and if I were to pay attention I would know what a .m2t is cause I burn AVCHD to dvd (basically a cheap way to burn blu-ray) .. I rush to much sometime lol
