Guys, do you find motion backgrounds, lower third etc useful ?
Aren't they just a cosmetic for TV and wedding video?
The reason I asked is that I have created my own motion BGs ( around 50 sets@ 10sec, 35MB each ) and I want to make something useful for other purposes like training video, school projects
I really need input , Thanks
Motion backgrounds like jumpbacks, etc can be useful in certain situations. I have quite a few of them, but only use them very rarely. If I do use them, I use them as a STARTING point, and modify and manipulate pieces of them into new works, indistinguishable from the original, not just use them as is right out of the box. (and only on certain types of projects- ie: non-broadcast). I've seen more jumpbacks on local car commercials than I care to remember. I don't want my work looking anything like car commercials to the viewers' minds. ok... rant over ;)
However, I think a niche type of backgrounds could serve a good purpose like you're saying you've made. Government vids, training vids, etc. are a good idea. Do you have previews online?
On the flipside, stock footage (not just motion backgrounds) is invaluable to have and use if you need a certain clip or shot you just can't get yourself because of time, money, or location.

We use Jumpbacks religiously where I work in Orange County. We do dealer meetings for Honda, Acura, and other automotive big wigs. We do a lot of flashy dashy editing of cars driving in all sorts of arenas, combined with interviews and thematic footage. The Jumpbacks serve as the foundation to the entire show, even if you only see very little of it. They are well done, and we can manipulate certain aspects in post to make them unique for our shows.

The internet here is way to slow ( 28kbps ) for uploading
I try to find another solution

Yeah, this is true, even if I use cable instead of modem dial up, the result is not different. The main problem is that the ISP must pay fortune for connection to Tier1 backbone (UUNET etc) because they have to use satelittes and under sea fiber which are very expensive. A T-1/E-1 connection to Tier-1 normally cost US$ 3500/month !

WOW... thank God for my $30/month bill!

Jakarta is about 600 miles from where I live, Surabaya
Surabaya is a small city, specially for people like us, it is not easy to buy even a camcorder battery here... :p
If I have to buy something, then it will be on internet or in Jakarta
