View Full Version : Any cool clips to share?
Anyone have any cool AE clips you want to share? If anyone needs some hosting, I can accomodate some clips.
Cmon guys... killer effects, compositing miracles, groundbreaking design?

Kai--
I would love to, but I have two strikes against me:
1) I work for a major defense company, so most of my materials becomes "proprietary" as soon as finish them
2) A lot of my stuff uses rights-managed footage from Getty, Corbis Motion, etc. for one-time use events and I can't risk the possible lawsuit.
I just finished a 200-layer, 4 minute AE project for a company event in Charlotte, NC that used Metallica's "Fuel for Fire" along with some heavily composited race car footage. *The ending of the video has the event logo exploding out of a giant fireball, then smoldering slowly as the president of the company approached the stage in a custom made NASCAR outfit. *it played on a huge custom format screen, with five 60" plasmas surrounding the main screen, playing supplemental material. *Fun stuff.
Wow i'd like to have seen that! :)

I'm finishing up some stuff right now for a portfolio scholarship to film school. I'll post some of the clips as soon as I get them all done. They aren't 200 layers or anything crazy like that though, but I think they're pretty cool.

I'll offer my animation reel. Some of it is pretty old and not all of it was done in AE. I did the 3D stuff in SoftImage3D, the claymation with regular old plasticina clay (shot on video, not film) and I used Elastic Reality for the morphs but pretty much everything esle was done in AE or just built in the Avid.

I am new to After Effects...Boone how did you do the zooms in your title sequence?
BoonExplosion
06-14-2004, 06:49 PM
The titles were set-up in 3D space in after effects. I then used a camera to fly around and through the objects. The cows at the start are about 4 cows duplicated over and over, each time moving the z position back further.

Boon, yes, very cool stuff. Have you, or anyone else played around with Studio Artist. I've been messing with it, but I have so far found that the paint sequences look pretty strange on anything larger than the programs canvas. I am hoping that this is just my inability, because the program looks pretty flexible.

Not really a clip but a stll frame from the modelling we are doing for a HD show intro. Bike will have rider travelling down a futuristic banked track as we timelapse from night to day.
Work in progress.

that's baaaaaaaad .. nice taylor!
Is this a team effort or is this all you? If a team, what is your role on this?
Taylor Moore
06-25-2004, 07:27 PM
It is a team effort with me being the Creative Director and Director/Compositor/Editor. Modelling and enviroment done by my assistant Burke Revet.
The client basically gives me free reign...(how rare).
I will take care of all animation, camera direction, comping and visual effects..
Once project is final, I will post QT. Should be mid-August.
Thanx Kai
great can't wait to see the final. Looks great! ;)

Here are a few:
We did those three cg advertisings for a newspaper, they are being played before movies.
http://www.e-studio.ch/promo/tg_cine_b.mov
http://www.e-studio.ch/promo/tg_sport_b.mov
http://www.e-studio.ch/promo/tg_bain_b.mov
All the cg was done in 3dsmax and the postprod in Aftereffect.
This one is for promoting an exhibit center near Geneva (Switzerland). The speach is in french, I have an English version too but not right here. There are five other animation clips of the complexe, but this one is the best.
http://www.e-studio.ch/promo/cdc_trans_big.mov
It was done in 3dsmax and aftereffect too.
Here are two stills of my latest work in the architecture field:

boonie - thought I recognized a South Aussie number plate in that reel. Good on ya. I'm interested in how you did the very first one with the laser/ribbon effect.
the laser/ribbon effect looks like Trapcode's 3D Stroke AE plugin. I have seen it in a lot of things since it came out, and it still looks great.

heres a spot that i lead a while back for vw. all the 3d work was done in xsi. we renderd in passes, so all the little bits were broken out into chunks that we could tweak later in AE. All the little dials and displays we did in AE as well. pretty fun.
if my computer that had a bunch of my archives didnt just die, id post some more...

Hi,
Peter - that certantly was a south aussie number plate. The lazer/ribbon effect was done with a combination of Trapcode 3Dstroke/Shine.
Abba - I use a combination of After Effects/Flash for animation. The cartoon stuff was done in flash.

Boon...animation looks really good...what did you use for the white swirls?
BoonExplosion
08-15-2004, 07:04 PM
Taylor, the white swirls are a combination of 3D stroke and shine plugins from trapcode. http://www.trapcode.com
I have put the source file for the BG texture online here
http://www.lukegibbs.com/videos/aftereffects/bg_texture.aep
There are good tutorials on the trapcode website for both these plugins.

This is a new short film/animation I recently made. If there is anyone here from Sydney it is screening this Thursday in Surry Hills.

I'm so bad at after effects, I shouldn't be allowed to post here, but I gotta say, That was GREAT! The audio needs to come up a little. But that was really cool. So many of you here are soo talented! Good job. :)
