Hello Listers,

Has anyone attempted to put a internal sata blu-ray burner in a mac tower? I am interested in burning demo discs and also using blu-ray for storage. How are you handling this.

Has anyone tried this in a MacPro Tower?

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/655432-REG/Pioneer_BDR_205BKS_BDR_205_Internal_Blu_ray_Burner .html

BH says PC, I have found other sites that say Mac too. I called Pioneer and after 3 people and 30 minutes of wasted time, they didn't know.....makes you wonder.

LaCie makes an firewire external for $125 more....hmmf.

Best Regards,
Grant

i have a panasonic sata internal BD burner I bought and put it in a external sata enclosure and its been working great for me the past 2 years using toast 8 titanium...Also I have built a few hackintoshes with cheaper liteON BD burners and had no problems...OSX has blu ray support built in so you shouldn't need drivers for most drives...

I was hoping for something to fit in the second tray on my Mac Pro. My workstation has spilled pasta everywhere (wire)

I bought an external Blu-ray burner, have used it on USB with both the Mac and PC (XP/SP3) to archive data on 25G BDRs. I had to get Toast to use it on the Mac. Burner came with a Blu-ray version of PowerDVD. I have yet to make a BR video disk.

Thanks for the info, I had been looking at the SATA internal blu-ray drives. Pioneer has a new 12x model which sounds better for the 50Gig discs! What model external box are you using? Any suggestions. Most of the SATA boxes I have purchased for external drives don't look like they would fit the tray-drawer on the burner?? Have I got this wrong?

Grant
