can i silhouette a moving object?

was wondering, is it possible to silhouette say a person or fill with solid color [same thing right?] "ipod commercial style" from footage shot without a green screen .[person is moving] ?

you'll have to roto the person in each frame. I'd use an animate mask, then mess with your brightness contrast inside the mask. I've done it before, but only with footage shot in front of a greenscreen, so that cuts out the roto work.
