I use mine to control playback. I thought about using it as a zoom controller but seems a little un-dependable. If the IR is not a clear line of sight, I won't get my zoom when I want it. It's also something else to have to keep track of while on location.

I use mine quite often for lock-off shots where I'm also running audio. It's pretty handy for my no budget/crew shoots.

Yeah it kinda sucks as a zoom controller. IT is good for shooting stunts though where you lock off your camera and run away from it.

Also, I used it on the last Feature I shot when we had 2 DVX's.

The DP that was operating the other camera was getting a little tired (just switched to nights) at 4:00am and I wiped out the remote, nudged the director (gotta let them in on it) and started pressing the zoom buttons so his camera was going nuts... he seriously thought it was possesed.. given we were shooting a horror made it even better. Laughed alot that night.

Ha ha.. sure was funny at the time, now typing it though it doesnt sound like that great of a story.
