View Full Version : Aren't express cards (P2) hot swappable?

When using one of these Expresscards to Cardbus adapters in a laptop with P2 - it all works OK - I can see the P2 as a drive etc.

But if I eject the Adapter (and P2) the logical drive disappears from the drive list - all good.

However if I reinsert it it doesn't reappear (like a P2 card directly in cardbus slot would).

Is there a way to make the laptop accept the drive has now appeared again?

It either has to be there when the laptop boots or you can insert afterwards - just not AFTER you've ejected it once.

Any ideas?

Are you using the Duel Adapter? If so, when you eject the p2, pull the card but not the adapter. If you pull the adapter you'll have to reboot.

Is "Duel Adapter" a particular brand of these? Or is that what they are all called?

I'm using a device that accepts the P2 card and then plugs into the laptop slot. Are all these sort of things safe to just pull the P2 out of?

Duel Adapter is a particular brand for mac. That's the way it works when ejecting the card. Don't know about other brands.
