I will be ordering my DVX on thursday. I have heard a lot about the importance of using MQ tapes. I have, however, had a hard time finding a reputable dealer that sells them. How much should these tapes cost, and where are the best places that people have bought them? Thanks for your imput.

I'm wondering if they're worth the trouble. I keep hearing about incompatibilty issues, they're expensive, and I have yet to hear from anyone but Panasonic that they actually deliver better perfomance than your average minidv tape.

Try www.edgewisemedia.com. MQ tapes run something like $5.65.
I've ordered many tapes from them in the past with no problems.

yeah.. they rock. That banner isn't paid advertising, I put it there because they give me great service and the best prices... and agreed to do so for all the DVXuser.com users.

Man it was right infront of my face the whole time. How could I have missed it?

lol.. some people have trained themselves to ignore banners.
Anyways, I am just above you in Vancouver and I usually get my stuff in 2 days via fedex.. I imagine it should get to you quicker. They really are on the ball.

If you live in Canada, especially Vancouver, check out:
http://www.thetapehouse.com/. They sell MQ tapes for CDN$6.75 each in boxes of 5. I'm not sure where they ship to, so you will have to call them. If you live in the US, i think you can get the same price, or better, from US suppliers without having to worry about international shipping charges and customs.

yes indeed.. Im actually going to tapehouse this afternoon :)
They are good there.. but have a habit of not returning emails so I would recommend actually driving to them.. and if you are lucky you may be able to do a little tour of the manufacturing in the back.. pretty cool to see.

I read somewhere that using a 83 minute tape voids the warranty.
