I have a client that uses MAC. I use PC. I haven't used a MAC since 1985.
I am shooting some 1080i footage on an HVX 200. I am using a P2 card and a Firestore. I am going to set the Firestore to record Quicktime HD.
He needs to take the footage immediately after the shoot.
He is bringing an external MAC formatted HD. Has anyone dumped from HVX P2 to MAC HD?
I tried it with a PC External HD, but it gave an error about multiple disks?
I have the shoot on Monday! HELP!
Thank you in advance.

Someone correct me if I am wrong. If you are shooting to a Firestore you can not than send those video files back through the HVX to a HD attached to the camera. It just doesn't work that way. If you shoot to a Firestore you will need to connect the Firestore and external HD up to a computer and do the transfer that way. If you decide to shoot to P2 cards and go directly from the camera to the HD you will need to use the camera to format the HD.

Thanks for the quick response!
I forgot to note that I am using the Firestore as a "backup" recording, sorry.
Two more questions: (thanks for your patience :)
If I use the computer method, I have a PC notebook running Vista. Will his MAC drive be recognized?
If the camera formats the HD, will my client be able to connect it to his MAC and transfer the files so FCP see them?

I've not tried it but that's the way it is supposed to work. Here's a link to the operating instructions for the camera ( http://catalog2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ModelDetail?displayTab=R&storeId=11201&catalogId=13051&itemId=243668&catGroupId=34401&surfModel=AG-HVX200A ). In addition to finding the operating instructions on this page you'll find a link to the Final Cut workflow. Hopefully this info will be helpful to you.

If client has FCP, then just do "Log and Transfer" from the File menu. It's relatively quick process through firewire and you simply select and drag clips to begin transfer process. If no FCP, there is a free downloadable program from Panasonic, P2CMS, that will interface with your camera.
