Home Made Boom Pole. PLEASE HELP!!!

OK... Young filmmaker here, in need of advice. I want to build my own boom pole, but my friends and I do not want to mess it up. If we go to home depot the workers are like clueless. So, one from one friend to another, anybody know how to build one, can you breakdown the directions and simply explain to us what we need to buy. We are not stupid, just want to clarify before we jump out and make this thing. We just want to do it right.

Here are plans for a very cheap telescoping fishpole + shock mount that we used before we bought a real one.

for the actual pole, they have various lengths ranging from 6ft to 15 or 20ft.
