I have rebuilt my 2 computers and now I can't look at my P2 footage.
Before I could go into the video folder and open the file in Quicktime.
Now, quicktime tells me "The movie could not be opened, This file is not a movie".

Here is the problem: I know I'm missing drivers for my 2 macs. But I can't find them on the site... Can someone tell me what I have to download to view the P2 Files in Quicktime?

Thank you!

John

I used to be able to open the contents folder / video / and open the file in Quicktime. I am missing the driver to open this in quicktime.

Do you know which driver I need??

Thanks for your help.

I don't do that, but you might try the P2CMS

Not sure what computer model you are using, but no drivers are required for ingesting P2 clips via firewire or USB on a PowerMac G5. I have never installed anything on my G5 except for the p2CMS software (which the Panny site says will only work with an Intel Mac). It works fine with the PowerPC G5 also.

As best as I can tell, the Panny drivers are only needed if you have cardbus slots and plan to ingest your P2 card data directly via those slots.

As far as viewing the P2 .mov files...again no Panny drivers are required. I wonder if your Quicktime files are corrupt. Need more info on your computer and exactly what you are doing to get the P2 data into your computer.

I am trying to view the .MXF files on a powermac G5 2.7gh processor 4.5ram Os x 10.5.8.
With in the contents folder of a P2 card or with in the contents folder backed up to the mac or a HD contains an .MXF file which is in the video folder. You used to be able to open the .MXF file in QT to see what the footage is.

My computer and QT is working fine. Yet before when I was able to do this I had to install a driver. The driver is the one I can not find.

This may also help: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/finalcutstudio/calibratedqmxfimport.html

It will allow direct import of .mxf files into quicktime and other fcp applications. Sorry, I thought you were talking about .mov files when I previously posted.
