This isn't a DSRL question, but I thought the people here would have the best input on lenses. I'm wondering what lenses I should pick up (which are most common) for my 16mm cam (it can use pentax-screw still cam lenses).

I've only ever used 50mm and 35mm lenses when shooting stills (don't have pentax-screw lenses for my still cam, though, unfortunately).

Right now I have the stock lens on the film cam (that also zooms, etc) but its critical focus just isn't up to par, so I'm hoping that a new lens might help with that.

Any advice on what mm to use? 50mm is closest to the human eye, but I rarely ever use it when taking stills, always opting instead for the 35mm lens.

50mm is only "closest to the human eye" when used on a 35mm full-frame still picture camera. It's nowhere near "closest to the human eye" when used on a 16mm movie camera! You're looking at more like a 20mm or so for that.

Your lens may be lousy, but at least the focal lengths will let you know what you want to be looking at. Look through your finder, zoom to various settings (25mm, 28mm, 35mm, etc) and see what the framing looks like. That's what it'll look like if you get a 25mm, 28mm, or 35mm still-camera lens too.
