slashcam.de linked today to a super easy to make DIY remote for Panasonic cameras (http://www.fi-hh.com/Bauanleitung.pdf). The PDF is in German but the images speak for themself. You need an 8 wire cable, plugs, some resistors, potentiometers, switches (Schalter) and push-buttons (Taster). Enjoy!

someone needs to translate that!

looks pretty cool

Through Babel Fish:

The listed Camcorder has remote control of connections two, with whose assistance the following functions become remote controlled kön nen: Start/stop, zoom shot, zoom shot speed, focus, screen and autoscreen/out. Panasonic does not use Sony LANC Interface, but an own remote And so those know control interface individual functions with a very simple circuit to be realized. The following building guidance describes, how one with a soldering iron and a few passive building divide an inexpensive remote maintenance realize can. All construction units are to be referred in the electronics specialized trade (shop or mail-order operation) and be had for approx. 30 to 40 euros.

Construction unit list: Resistances: 2 x 1K of ohms 2 x 100 k ohms 1 x 10 k ohms Potentiometer: 2 x 10 k ohms linear 2 x 22 k ohms linear 4 x of rotary buttons Tracer: 2 x tracers black 1 x tracer red Switch 1 x rocker switch Jack plug: 1 x 4-polig 3.5 mm of jack plugs 1 x 3-polig 2.5 mm of jack plugs Other: 1 x 8-poliges cable, 8 meters long 1 x plastic housing 1 x 8-polige plug connector Various heat shrink sleeves Remote control Connections

The starting/stop and the zoom function over a 3-poligen 2.5 mm of jack plugs are realized. Focus, screen and autoscreen are steered via a 4-poligen 3.5 mm of jack plugs. Both plugs soldered on at an end of a 8-poligen, about 7.5 meters are enough cable. One of the eight veins is not needed thereby. On the other side the 8-polige plug is soldered on. The 50 cm long cable remainder serves for interconnecting within the housing. The housing should be large enough around 4 potentiometers, 3 tracer, to take up a change over switch and the 8-polige socket contact. After working on the housing (, files and installation of the control elements bore) the socket contact with the remaining construction units, like in the following connection diagrams, is represented soldered:

Cable of the small, 3-poligen jack plug: Between A and C (mass) that lies red start/stop tracer, between B and C becomes the zoom function over those both black tracers and ent speaking resistances steered. Those both 10 k ohms of potentiometers adjust the zoom shot speed. The two ranges from 0 k ohms to 10 k ohms and of 10 k ohms to 20 k Ohms determine thereby the zoom shot direction.

Cable of the large, 4-poligen jack plug: Between D and A (mass) lies the rocker switch for the autoiris Enterprise. Between B and A becomes, according to the lying close Resistance, the focus adjusted and between C and A those becomes Screen adjusted. The effective Range lies approximately between 1K Ohm and 19 k ohms (from there it that 1K Ohm pre-resistor and the 100 k Ohm bypass resistor. Both Resistances are not actually necessarily, increase however that Sensitivity range of the trick potentiometer.)

Who wants to realize a very sensitive attitude, that can set also simply between A and B, and/or between A and C per a precision multi-course potentiometer (about 5 x so expensively). Those gives it e.g. with 10 courses, i.e. depending on also like many revolutions one to work would like, knows one 20 k ohm (effective range about 9 revolutions), 50 k ohm (about 3.6 revolutions) or 100 k ohms (about 1.8 revolutions) precision multi-course potentiometers use. Copy so, war's, much fun with. If everything is finished, the remote maintenance can be tested. It pay attention that the zoom shot switch at the camera must stand on servo and not on manual.
