So far, I've been really liking the footage I get from the D90. However, I've started to realize, that I can get even better results by changing the photo settings before actually shooting.
But NOT to enhance what is already good footage, but to make the video look FLAT as possible. Low contrast, lower saturation, and dialed down sharpness.
When I edit in FCP, I can turn the FLAT looking footage into something even more better than what in camera compressions produce. Because when the camera is left in its default setting, its hard to undo with Final Cut Pro, what has already been done with the in camera compressions. Its possible, but more tedious, and the results are not that great.
I guess the point is, to maximize the dynamic range, so you can see all the shadows, highlight, and mid-tones clearly.
I just learned this technique as of late, and I'm pretty sure everyone on this forum is aware about this technique already. My question is, what do you think is the best setting for this kind of method? In terms of all the photo presets for FLAT looking video footage.
