a while back i made a post about a homemade follow focus i was working on, which I have not yet completed, but i get alot of questions about it, so *here is the rough framing of it. now this is not at all what the final rod mount or follow focus mount will be or look like, i simply used this cheapy setup to get the right spacing and measurments for the rods, and placement of the follow focus on the mount to hit the dvx focus ring right. as you cab see the back plate is thin aluminum, , and plastic block, and the mount for the follow focus is actually black foam core..lol! but all i need to do to complete the rig is take the time to machine out the rod mounts, and follow focus mount from some falt black abs type material here. but its just a side -side-side project as is, so it usually just sits on the shelf. the tootsie rolls are holding up the focus knob, cause i couldnt find the bolt that holds it on the column, but anyway, as ghetto as it looks now, it will look like any other ff once its done.. anyway, a rubber ring goes around the focus gear, and just turns the dvx focus ring by friction, the unit is set up with a 1:1 relationship between the focus knob and the dvx focus ring, so if you turn the focus knob around 360 the dvx focus ring will go around 360, i could tone that down a bit, but i like it like that . I didnt bother putting the mark ring on cause its a pain and im tired. anyway blah blah heres the links..

hey jared. maybe if i blueprinted out some specs for the mounts, *you could machine them from aluminum for me?
it would raise the overall cost above 40.00 im sure, but even 100-200.00 for a nice DYI unit would be cool.

you gotta wait for it to load... some reason that site takes a while to load but you think you are seeing the main page but it goes to some links.

the aluminum knob is a prop turning cup from an electric enigine starter for radio controlled gas airplanes.(..amazing where you find stuff to use) it bolts onto any 1/4" shaft. you can of course use any knob you like on the 1/4" shaft, but i just thought the look of the aluminum would be cool. I might change it to some sort of rubber grip or somthing yet. the rods are of 15mm stainless.
