External mic question.

My understanding is that the ch1 and ch2 level wheels will not adjust the levels for an external mic. That being the case, do I need to run an external through a mixer to properly adjust the levels, or am I just misreading the manual in the first place?

yes.. the dials control the external levels. it controls whatever is plugged into the inputs... mics or line levels.
