7D is the best by far. the rest are basically 1st gen iterations, the 7D is more like a 2nd gen.
totally worth the extra cost
Yes at least compare the D300s vs 7D vs GH1.
If only wanting a video camera then get a video camera. If you want a camera/video camera then there is a lot to compare.

My opinion kind of goes along with Zim's: If you are after a tool that you want creative freedom and you have the time and patience for, then look into a DSLR. If you are going run n gun then get a video camera. The DSLRs force you to make films like a film maker: you have to take the time to set up the shot, get distances for focus, stabilize the camera, etc etc.
I was a long time Canon user (GL2, XHA1 HV30 + Adapter, 5DMKII, 7D). For the longest time I just could not get what I wanted from the picture as far as color and motion feel goes. I finally decided to go the road less traveled for video and I got a Nikon D300s. I have to handle it differently and with a lot more care, but the organic feel of the color, picture, and motion is exactly what I wanted.

I have a D300s and have recently purchased a GH1.
The GH1 is much better. Don't get a Nikon unless you're primarily shooting stills.
