The thing even has carpet on the inside bottom.. lol..
Nice! How securely does that cover close?

Looks nice...but things just seem to be thrown in there. I'm not bagging on your packing skillz. I just like things to be divided up and tight.

ha ha.. dude I just got the bag today... Shit is just thrown in there. Havnt decided what goes where.
And the lid closes via velcro on the front, and zippers come up from both sides. Its pretty hardcore.

..do you think the dvx with ana lense and chrozsiel box flags- wings and rods +ff would fit in there without disassembly...? it looks like maybe the long way?

nice bag either way.

I couldn't find it on the EVS website.

EVS doesnt list anything on thier website... they just got a new site so *they are slowly adding thier inventory. You need to phone or email them, cody@evsonline.com rush@evsonline.com
and yes... the dvx will fit in there with everything.. the dvx fits in there stock like you see it... the bag is 2x the length than the width.

nice! what sort of padding does it have in the bag walls..and under the carpet? it looks like some sort of courdura material for the shell,,waterproof i imagine..any other color options? i might have to give evs a ring..
Zoomforce
01-31-2004, 10:37 AM
its padded and structured with that Kino type planks, carpet on the bottom and hard form top... there is 2 colors, but the light blue one looks like it would get dirty real fast.

I'm using a Quantarry bag for a carry-on. It fits the cam, a shotgun mic, some cables, some batteries, some tapes, all the basics. It's pretty snug, but lots of padding.

nice looking bag but check this out http://www.burton.com/gravis/gear/products.asp?productID=526&shortMaterialNumber=G43 82301
it has a hard shell built in the bottom. I can fit my camera and labtop in my bag and it does not attract any unwanted attention
Thanks

Question:
I'm looking for a nice bag (hard or soft, I don't know) but I'm on a budget (i hate saying that, but the camera made me poor... lol). What kind of bags should I look for that are on the less expensive side?

it is a GREAT bag. this is what i use for my dvx since its got a 4x4 mattebox on it. fits great. i got the 'special edition' blue/grey one for 150 a month back. i had a porta brace with their 'cradle' that i have put in the cinebag - velcros right in the bottom like it was made for it.
how do i post a pic?

Yea I saw that bag in this catalog I have. For $180 or close to it, it should have a lot of space! I might look into one of those when I get some more gear. I hear it even has a case for a clapboard!
Someone mentioned they couldnt find this bag on the EVS website, well they also have a free catalog available and its in there on page 25.

Bought a bag today for my 'lil friend' (DVX)
It zips up with a heavy duty thick ass zipper. All sides are extra padded with the bottom having the tradtional "plastic" durable frame. More than enough room for the DVX and extra crap.
I am the guerilla man.

I had a serious problem with spending anything more than 50 bucks on a bag just cause it has the word video or cine in it. I mean, fuck, its nylon! Its a bag.
They charge cause they can I guess. But this bag really is kick ass (for me and my budget). :D

I have an old 'boat bag' for when I used to work on boats, but it was not 'right'. I looked aorund at military surpus places and then finally, home depot. Lowes had a similar bag but was no where near the quality of this one.
How can you guys spend so much on such something so basic? :P

John, that bag is really workin' out for you? I have a home depot literaly feet away from my house, so I'm seriously considering it. I don't have or want to spend a whole bunch of money on a bag right now.
When I'm rich, I'll get a pimp bag made out of Nasa grade material and whatnot.
J.R. Hudson
02-09-2004, 09:46 AM
Yes.
Here's the deal.
It's obviously not as big as say, the bag Jarred posted in this thread. I mean, that thing is a monster.
But, At my level, I am not in need of a bag that carries 8 million items. The bag I have not only carries the DVX comfortbaly and securely, but has extra pockets and space for tapes, batteries, cell phone, folders (script), tools, gloves whateva...
$32.00 and it is not a gym bag if you know what I mean. I think this bag is perfect for I need it for. Go check it out and let me know what your take is!
Hello! I am at the California Glendale office. I may have been out to lunch? ???
Zoomforce
02-10-2004, 08:29 AM
Steve where did you get your bags from? did you get them yet? I think your gonna love them.
John, your bag is perfect for you I imagine. There is a huge difference between a production bag and a camera bag.
A production bag you take when you are on a 3 week production out in the middle of nowhere where you need to wheel out your camera cart and have everything you possibly could need within a few feet, as the production isnt gonna wait for you when you need to run back to the van 4 blocks away to get something.
Also, its good to have a bag that closes so when you break for lunch you dont have to worry about rain or someone walking by and seeing all your gack open and pretty...

How about this? I have used several of these for years... The ones that I bought at the store have perforated foam that can be easily custom fit for your camera (the online version doesn't show the foam). Lifetime warranty too. All for the low low price of $24. I have gotten them as low as $17.
Go to the power tool section at your local Lowes.
http://www.lowes.com/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=24981-000010203-VGC-5200
Even if you don't choose to use it for your camera, it makes a nice heavy duty aluminum accessory case.
Just wanted to pass along for anyone that may have not seen these.

That's a great idea as well. I saw some similar items at Home Depot but went for the 'convenience' of a bag.

Should have asked ealier, but how much is it to ship to Canada? Specifically to Toronto?
Zoomforce
02-12-2004, 11:06 AM
Im in vancouver, and I ordered something else with it and OVERNIGHT fedex cost $50. The bag is huge and doesnt fold up, so its a big box. I am sure if you didnt need it ASAP you could go with a slower shipping service and get that price down.
We have 10 1550's in stock as of now. :D
Also, I talked to Cinebags, and they said that Kmart (or the Canadian Equivalent :D) sells a plastic Rubbermaid tub for $20 that the Cinebag can drop right into. Then you can tape up the whole thing and check it in (He recommended to take the camera out first ;)).

I agree with the toolbag concept -- I got my "toolbag" from Lowe's" -- internally it's 20" long -- I'm thinking of getting the longer one which is 24", long enough for to keep a shotgun mic mounted. It think it runs $36. I padded mine internally a little more with a couple of mouse pads I had lying around. Works great ... has a padded shoulder strap, tons of pockets inside and out -- and non-descript but professional looking too.
It's also a nice p-brace blue color --
I also picked up one of those little cell phone cases they sell that are made of the same cordura material (it's also blue) -- I use it to hold my wireless mic reciever. It's got various ways to mount (clip, belt loop, a little carbiner included) and it's the perfect size for the reciever. I've seen this at the checkout counters at both the Despot and Lowe's.
God bless self checkout ...
I keep my portabrace cover on my dvx 24/7 -- so everything's cordura blue. When I use my cam in public -- people just see me looking into this blue bag with my hand sticking up it, and when I sling it over my shoulder it just looks like a handbag instead of a sweet dvx. Although the dv caddie rig tends to give it away.
Dont' get me wrong -- I've got a couple of Pelicans in case I need some heavy duty packing. But for running and gunning, this shoulder bag set up works great for me.

I bought one of these cinebags at NAB this year as a show special. I filled it full of all the literature I picked up at the show and checked it as baggage on the flight home. It still looked new after the flight, and none of the zippers failed or pouches came open. A couple things I don't like about it after carrying it on a few shoots: 1) It is very awkward to carry. It feels a little wide to me, especially carrying it on the shoulder with the strap. I use to have a Kata large production case I liked better, but I think it cost over twice as much. 2) Watch out for the metal buckles on the straps. I have ripped two shirt sleeves on this beast. Still need to get some pliers and bend it down.

i have the cargo bag from portabrace. it is the biggest cargo out of the series of cargo bags and i love it, the inside dividers and tons of pockets along the front and sides.
i just love that bag because i have it setup so well that when i'm on location i can fnd anything in it in 5 seconds. with the dividers i just have a system where all the audio stuff fits in one section, all the batteries and charger type stuff another section etc.
i also have the run bag #4 from porta brace, rb#4
it is a medium huge bag, inside dimensions are like 8x10x30
for lighting stuff check out the kata bag, the maze 4 is amazing, i must have close to 80 pounds of lights and the bag is still rock solid after almost a year of pretty regular use.

It looks likes the following; it's basically cool for more Run and Gun. Unfortunatley I have a Mattebox on mine so it will not sit anymore; but I use mine now for my Glidecam which does fit perfectly and heavy duty style.
