Does anyone know how to load a custom profile .ntc?

Do you need to use software or can you transfer it with a SD card?

The specific color profile .ntc file I am looking at is from Martin Lang here:

That is a NICE color profile.... good luck with that. Post some footy for us when you get some! :)

You need to use Nikon Picture Control. It is in the bundled software that came with your camera. It only works on windows or regular leopard.

hmm
well i tried this and it just wont let me import or save anything.
at least when i connect directly to the usb. or does it only work with an external card reader ?

It has to be converted to a .ncp file. Are you looking for Martin Langs profile specifically? I attached the zipped file below. You will put it onto the sd card, put it in the camera then go to manage picture controls on the menu and can load it from there.

problem is i got a d5000, and no 'mass storage' option for usb, i have to use a card reader, or in my case an other cam with mass storage :)

i can save my own presets and also use those from martin langs or fotobywes

glad i could help. can you direct me to fotobywes presets? Tell me what you think of the Vision. It seems to me that in natural light the skin tones get mushy.

i think i saw some others too on this forum, but im not sure anymore.
anyway, fotobywebs got like 30 different custom profiles colors, sepia, blue,...
im going to experiment a bit with all those tomorrow.

seems like i get lot of mushy green shadows with the Martin Langs ones, with natural or incandescent lights. It seems nice but i wouldnt use it as a preset in the cam, i think i would prefer to do that kind of custom CC in PP

dont know if u tried those yet, but i just tested a few, and i must say some are really nice for video, i get really nice results with that ColorC1S1H4 preset, so i think i will just start with this one and make a few adjustments for different needs.

When you export a preset to your SD card with the Nikon software, it creates a folder named 'NIKON' and inside, another folder named 'CUSTOMPC' and puts the .ncp files in that last one. Try to follow the same order and it might work. I would advise you to download ViewNX 2 and learn to use it for preset management.
