Hi,

I have a couple questions about Canon mount Tokinas and Sigmas.

I'm really picky about focus direction and the focus barrell hard stopping at infinity.

Do canon mount Tokinas and Sigmas hard stop at infininty or does the barrel keep turning like Canon Eos lenses? Also do Tokinas and Sigmas focus in the Standard cinema direction?

I'm eyeing either of these brands for my wide, the Tokina 11-16 or Sigma 20 f/1.8

thanks.

I have the Tokina 11-16 in Canon mount. In the Canon version it focuses in the standard cinema direction. If you buy the Nikon mount version it focuses in the opposite "Nikon" direction. In the manual focus mode it has hard stops at infinity and MFD.

I believe all Sigma lenses focus the standard direction in all mounts, but but I don't have the 20 1.8 to check.

As many others have reported, the Tokina 11-16 is an outstanding lens, especially considering the price.

Check out the sigma 14mm. They have two versions as far as I know. The newer 2.8 and the older 3.5. I have the older 3.5 and it still works great. Plus if you upgrade to a full frame sensor in the future, the sigma will still work as a super wide rectilinear lens.
