Dn101 disables AGC without injecting a tone
Looks pretty nice for run/gun people, except it disables the right channel.

I don't know for sure but I doubt it works without injecting a tone. I suppose the tone goes into the unusable right channel and unlike with the BeachTek device is not in the actual signal where it can cause problems.

They say it doesn't use a tone, so it must not. I'm thinking they use a dc offset signal, which essentially sends current to the channel as if it was a 0 hz square wave.

So, essentially, a tone -- sent to the right channel instead of sent to your mix.
Same trick, different strategy.

Well, from what I've read on JuicedLink.com, it simply:
CANON 7D/T2i: Unfortunately, the Canon 7D and T2i do not have Manual control of their audio. So, you will need to use the AGC disable feature of the DS214 (http://www.juicedlink.com/audio-preamps-mixers-etc-c-66/ds214). This will inject a signal (noise) into the right track of the camera, to force it to throttle back its AGC amplifiers, yielding a clean track for recording on the left side.
