Has anyone done this in the field. I checked search and didn't see anything.

I have a client bringing an XDCAM field deck. I need to input the hd footage into the deck. The only way I see to do it (if possible) is thru the firewire (i link) interface.

Can this be done with the hvx200 only. Does the field deck act like a computer and look for files, or do you playback the footage somehow.

XDCAM from the literature is a 1080i based system, Do i need to set the camera to match the sony unit or can I use 720pn and the field deck will convert ( I don't think the quality issue will be an issue do to the nature of the footage)

Can i use the i link with the hvx200, or will i need to locate and component to sdi converter (time code?)

any help will be appreciated.

thanks

Thank you DJ. I couldn't find any good info on using the firewire.

Could I import into a notebook or us my G5 and turn it into quicktime and then use the computer hard drive to transfer into the XDcam deck. I haven't been able to find out how the firewire for the deck works in input mode using the deck to tap the source.

Is there a work around. I have an osx notebook G4 for the field and an older Windows unit for file capture, but no other programs for video. The G4 notebook has FCP
