XD-cam footage w/ 720pn timeline

I am getting some footage from an editor of a project I'm working on. He is giving me 1080 24p footage shot on the EX-3. This will need to put into a timeline that was shot at 720pn (HVX.) He wants to compress it to the size of my 720p timeline before giving it to me. In final cut, can he convert the 1080p to 720p. I'm very rusty w/FCP. Pls. advise.

i received 1080 30p xdcam aerial footage (helicopter) from a pilot friend of mine for a feature shot in 720 24pa HPX170. I took the XDCAM footage into After Effects and interperted as 23.976 and exported that as 720p 23.976 pro res quicktime. Rescaling looks great. Tried dumping the 1080 into Final Cut and the results were not nearly as clean. Hope that helps...
