Help me with my zoom H4N

Hey guys
messing around with my zoom that i got in yesterday. i have put a standard size quarter inch cable in the input 1 on the bottom and now cannot get it back out. i don't see a release button on the device and the user manual seems to indicate i can just pull it back out but i am putting quite a bit of muscle into it and it is not coming out. I don't want to pull any harder and end up messing something up- am I totally missing something here? Anyone?

you put a what? Any cable should come back out with ease, if its stuck, im guessing you forced the wrong size of something in. Be careful or you could destroy it. Its a pretty robust little piece of equipment, but its definetly not invunberable to smashing, or severe yanking.

found a couple other guys dealing with the same issue. one guy pulled so hard the cable tip came off... anyway, i pulled very very hard and it came out... i hope i did not do damage to it, but advice to others that is on the zoom forum is to put some sort of polish on the cable tip and move it in and out a few times (sounds awkwardly sexual). anyway, i have to head off to work so i won't really know if i did damage until tomorrow when i mess with it again...


stupid question here but how do you put xlr cables into this thing? do i need to buy some sort of adapter bc the plug does not look like the female end of an xlr but rather the female end of a 1/4 inch guitar cable...
