Just received this from Panasonic:

Thank you for your further e-mail enquiry. Please accept my sincere apologies for the delay in our response.

I am most concerned to learn of the circumstances, which have prompted you to write, and can certainly appreciate your frustration and disappointment.

In order to provide you with a full response, I have taken the opportunity to consult with our resident technical support advisors. They have explained that there is a demonstration mode which enables the Video out in record mode (this is a low resolution output for demonstrating OIS), which you can turn on.

To enable the Demo mode you need to press and hold the delete key on the back of the camera.

Please note this only allows an output for the included Composite connection, not the HDMI connection.

We trust that the above information will be of assistance to you. However, of course, if you should have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us on 0844 844 3852 or email us using the following email address:

I believe this has been in the GH1 FAQ here since June (and documented by Hunter in April):

yes, I saw that - I was told that it would output whilst recording. Sadly it does not.
