So I'm just about to go on my first shoot for my next film and I'm trying to decide what format to shoot this film in. I would like to shoot 1080P at 24 FPS but I am a little concerned about mud. I definitely would like to have 24FPS but I'm also considering shooting in 720P at 30. I wish I could shoot in 720p at 24 but there's no option to do that conveniently..... or is there???
Anyways, what I'm getting at is, for my film, 1080 24p would be preferred over 720 30p but, is 720 30p a close competitor? I don't care much about the resolution in this case because It's going to be played on a standard def DVD but I'm more concerned about the frame rate. Is there really that much of a difference between 24p and 30p?
Thanks!!

The majority of people cannot tell if it's 24 or 30 frames per second. Do some tests and decide for yourself; that's the only thing that's really going to matter. Yes, there's a difference, but I don't think it's a huge one. Certainly compared to the risk of mud. I shoot 720 for the same reason most of the time.
