Fresh blood here.
I have actually been lurking for a long time, watched all the entrants into Monsterfest, and was thoroughly impressed.
What really got me off the chair and into the fest was Marlon Ladd, after seeing The Jones' and sending him a PM,
he encouraged me to actually get out and make a movie.
So after thinking of an idea, and securing a cast (friends), I decided to jump in.
I will be filming this on my Canon 7D so that should interesting. Next up, writing the script which will be a first for me.
Thanks!
-Chris

Cool, but you know you don't have to do the script thing alone.

Welcome to the fest and good luck. Keaton is a whore yes, but he's right. Sooner you get the script out of the way the sooner you can get shooting...

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I may indeed require some help with the script, might take someone up on their offer. :)

Welcome to the fest. Glad to see another first time entry. that's always one of the most encouraging things for me... one of the recent fests (can't remember which) something like 25-30% of entrants were first time'ers, and several of them ended up making the finals.
good luck to you.

Thanks! The script is coming together nicely. I am actually happy with it, I wasn't sure I could write something even halfway decent. But we will have to see how it looks in the morning!

Thanks Jason. I just hope I can see it through all the way. Just completing the movie will be reward enough.

Marlon, you da man! Just hoping I can finish and get into the fest. Thanks, I am sure I will be asking lots of questions, of everyone!

Thanks dsto. It is really appreciated.
Update: First draft of the script is done, and I have gotten some feedback from a couple members here. Working on the revisions. Probably going to scout some locations on Saturday.
Next big issue is sound. Not sure my mics are up to the task, looking at alternatives. Don't want to dub the sound later so will have to get it on location, and I know sound is everything.
Thanks to all for the encouragement. :)

How's the script coming ?
I was actually done with it before Christmas, however my cast lost interest in the project which is probably my fault. life intruded and other things had to take priority. Knowing that this might happen I wrote another script utilizing 1 actor, and have been playing with the idea in my head. Whether or not I enter it depends on the final product, I have been staying away from the forums somewhat embarrassed by my first foray into the fest being a failure.
Though I might pull a Vincent Laforet and film it over a couple days, and late nights editing(which is my first love anyway). So Brotherhood is dead.
But if things work out and I can finish in time I may still enter another project. Though I won't start a thread on it until it is completed.
Thanks for asking!

Hey, Chris. Sorry to hear that, man. Hopefully you can get this other project in though. It seems there have been alot of factors this fest that have made people drop out. I've seen at least 5 that had to drop out and had been planning their film since the announcement of the fest.

Thanks Marlon,
I am hard at work rewriting the second script. I have talked to my cast and we are a go for shooting this Sunday. Gotta love it, racing against time to finish. We'll see how it turns out. Hopefully more updates the beginning of the week.

Thanks Rodney, really appreciate the encouragement. Been working on things I can do by myself today. No filming, but some of opening sequence is completed in a rough form.
Tomorrow should be a fun day, everyone is fired up. Hope we can get what we need, going to be a long day.
If all goes right I will be starting a thread on the new project Sunday evening. Have the poster completed and am pretty happy with it. Creating a tagline was a bear, not sure I like it but we'll see.
Thanks again,
-Chris
