It's not coming out unless you send it in to get it cleaned. An air can won't do it, and, if anything, you are just blowing it around in there.

Thanks for the quick response. I think that I'm going to call the Panny Service Center here in LA and see how they can help. Not sure if I'll be voiding the warranty by mentioning it has sand. Probably just send it in for standard servicing/cleaning, ya?

I would not count on just a routine cleaning. It all depends on how much sand is in the mechanism and how much of the camera must be taken apart. My HVX200 and I were caught in the jet wash of a helicopter in the dirt about two years ago. Lots of sand in the mechanism. It took the technician a week to disassemble and clean the lens mechanism. With labor, it end up being around $1,100.00.
Then again, you could get lucky and it may not be as big of a deal.
