I own AI and AI-S prime lenses and would like to purchase a Nikon SLR for it. I'm aware that both the D90 and D3000 have no meter with the AI-S lenses, although I'm not too sure what that means and how much that would effect me whilst taking pictures.

I'm not concerned about recording video, still photography is what I'm after.

Which would you advise me to purchase and why?

Why are there so many posts like this?

If you read reviews and go and test the cameras yourself with the lenses you have,
you will have a better idea than posting this here. I kind of feel offended that you ask
which is better and then "and why?" as if any response requires a fully researched answer
that you yourself could have and should have undertaken.

For what it's worth, the D3000 is an entry dslr from Nikon, and the D90 is a semi-professional /
semi-consumer dslr from Nikon. The D3000 has limited lense compatibility.
AI lenses will connect with the D90. The D90 will allow you to grow as a photographer. If you have the money, get the D90.

Now I'm annoyed for writing an answer!

Best of luck.

I'd go with the D300s if you can afford it. If not go with the D90
