MonsterFest ROUND 2. The Finalists....

Ok... First, I just want to say thank you very much to all of you who took the time to make a film and enter it in the fest. For better or for worse, it is quite an achievement just to do that much. So, thanks. I've enjoyed watching the films and appreciate and admire the effort all of you put in.

So......

It really was tough to find a clear place to cut the line for the finalists. A lot of the films are closely rated as of right now. It's a competitive field.

There could be a top 7, top 8, top 10... geez... it's pretty close... So, in the spirit of inclusiveness, we've decided to include more, rather than less. Plus, it's harder for you guys to guess what you think is where :)

So...... :)

We're including every competition film that is rated at a 6.00 or higher in the finals. There is the most separation between the 6.0 rated film and the one after it as well, so... That's 13 competition entries. StormFactory's "Zimm" also made it in there, but it was a very late entry and exhibition only entry.

So, we've got 13 films rated at 6.000000 or higher... and <drumroll> in alphabetical order...

let me expand on that a bit...

All ratings from round 1 are locked and carried over into round 2... They are still a part of the final results, but after you've rated, there isn't really a need to change your rating from round to round. You may change your ratings on any films until a round ends, at that point, your ratings are locked and carried forward to the next round.

I finally managed to watch 31 of the entries this morning and it's not too heavy on Fridays here at work so I'm going to try and finish the rest of them tonight.

But I just wanna say... (hmm... I heard that phrase before somewhere, but anyway) You guys did an incredible, incredible job with your films in this fest, you really did. I have seen some really good stuff!

It was so funny this morning I'm laying there watching the movies, and my mind was all into the lighting, framing, sound, etc... etc... and my wife next to me squeezing my arm and
screaming "OH MY GOD!" LOL...
I'm like in another zone and she was all into the movies and it was funny as hell !!!

I was lucky enough to view & rate all of the films in the first round. However, not enough time to comment on any..... might find the time before the 20th though....hopefully.

Congratulations to all of the filmmakers. There were a lot of good films in this fest. At first I was only going to check out films from names I knew. I'm glad I went beyond that narrow scope. I found some of the best films to be from some newcomers. This has been one of the better fests.

we're going to keep the voting open for a while yet today. Want to let whoever wants to vote to be able to vote. Plus, we're still waiting on some more juror's panel votes to come through, and I'm still getting final confirmation on some prizes.

We'll close the voting at 4pm pacific time today.

Then, if everything works out, we'll announce at least the member vote results this evening sometime along with the next fest.

Worst case, results will be posted tomorrow morning'ish. member vote, prizes, and juror's panel results as well.

It's a real tight race this time. Lots of variety in the fest to suit lots of different tastes.

Heh. I was pretty much joking. I think we're pretty much in concensus for the next fest so it will be announced soon.

We're waiting on one last jury vote tonight. I think Jason is nailing down some last minute prizes for the audience vote. If all that comes together tonight maybe he will announce it all in one breath tomorrow(jury vote, DVXuser vote, next fest). Or maybe we will need to make sure some last "t"s are crossed and "i"s are dotted first before we announce stuff so we can be certain. But you should likely know everything pretty soon.
