Up for sale is my panasonic hmc 150, which was purchased in january from b and h in new york, and has 93 hours of operation. I amselling it as my job requires me to shoot pal now, so I am changing to the pal version or an hpx 171.
It is in perfect condition and has always had a filter on so the lens is in brand new conditon. It has been used for a handful of small projects.
It will come in the original box, with manual, and all the accessories included at the time of purchase. Also included are 4 Panasonic 5800mAh batteries (rrp $170 each), 2 of which are unpackaged but have not been used, and an extra Panasonic charger identical to the original one included, which I purchased very recently but have not yet unpackaged. And 2 16gb class 7 Delkin sd cards will be thrown in!
I'm based in the UK but am 100% cool with shipping to America, as long as shipping is covered by you but I'm sure it won't be much more than $50/$100.

$3500

Hey I am in the UK myself, so I would do the whole lot for £2350 including postage, as I have had an offer for just the camera and original accessories for £2000.

Camera is now sold, the 4 long life batteries and extra charger are still to sale to buyers worldwide.

Perhaps starting a new thread just for the batteries might be a good idea.

I'm sorry if I take over the thread but I'm curious to know why "so many" people are selling their HMC camera.
I'm a film guy and really don't know that much about the digital "world" however a friend of mine is looking for a digital camera for behind the scene stuff and after reading this great forum I suggested him to look toward this camera.
Now that I see people selling it I wonder if there is something wrong with it
Are you people selling them to be ready to buy the Scarlet? { if it ever comes out ;) }
Would love to hear some story and critics
Thanks a lot for your time
And again sorry Willber to take over your thread

I think that because the HMC and other similar prosumer cameras are bought by people who look to getting into the world of film and video and not those who are necessarily in the business.

So my theory is that all of those who don't make it into the world of film and video end up selling their camera loosing any hope of success and those who are sucessfull end up sellinig it to get something much better. so in the end everyone and some point will sell their hmc150. After all is has been out for a while now.

Yeah I sold it because I needed to get a Pal camera instead of ntsc...and also had more money in the bank so got an hpx-171 in the end.
The camera is sold but the 4 batteries and brand new charger are still for sale.

Nonsense! It is an awesome camera and makes
beautiful images and fyi many many many people "in the business" as you put it use the HMC150.
Many people also buy technology that does not suit their needs and only find this out after the fact.
But then this was only your "theory" wasn't it.

Yeah, Like i said, just my theory and i agree, the images you get out of these are amazing although you can get better, this is good enough for most.

I just sold my HMC150 lately, so thought I'd add my 2 cents. The HMC150 is a fantastic camera and the only reason I sold it is that I'm more of a narrative filmmaker and always try to shoot shallow DOF whenever possible. I owned a Letus and I feel the IQ of the HMC150/Letus combo was amazing, but the weight made it a little restrictive on pulling off the kind of shots I wanted. I recently purchased the GH-1 and found that it met most of my filmmaking needs.

That being said, I do miss the convenience of a real camcorder, especially for doc-style work. I've even considered a HMC40 as a substitute camcorder. But we're in a Murphy's Law phase of video electronics right now, and I've accepted the fact that I'm basically going to be paying buying/selling my camcorder frequently to keep up to date with all the advances until I find a camcorder that can meet 90% of my needs. Hopefully Pana/Sony/Canon/RED nails it with their next model. I'm sure they all want long life spans as well.
