View Full Version : Codec issues while viewing?

I had to use QT to view the majority of the .mp4's and VLC to view the majority of the .movs . Seems backwards.

For example, Rodneys 'Flower' , I had to use QT and the resulting framing was, I'm very sure, not what he intended. The only one with a framing issue I noticed, although it came up nice and wide in VLC but produced a debuggin error and was unviewable, thus having to use QT.

It's a shame when that happens because I know I'm not seeing what was intended. And that makes it unfair to the artists.

I assume it's codec related. Maybe I need to check for updates. I thought I was up to date within the past 6 months, not sure now.
I'm running Windows XP-SP3 on PC.

Anyone else have issues?

Funny, I had to use the VLC player to view 'Flower' and it wouldn't play in QT.

The only one I had to watch with VLC was Diabolus Domi. Everything else worked fine with QT. Of course, I'm watching on a Mac.

I'm using QT 6.7.2 pro. Does that sound outdated? Weird anyways. I'll check for updates tomorrow.

QT worked for me on a PC. There were times that I couldn't just double click on the file and it would open. It would error out. BUT, If I opened up the QT app first, then opened the file, always worked like a charm.

Rodney's was distorted in QT for me as well. I think probably an exporting issue. There is a way, however, in QT (on a Mac at least) to adjust the proportions of a video. So I stretched out Rodney's and was able to view it more accurately.
