From today until January 1st, 2010 (dang... 2010 already?) The Landmine Shop is offering a special price for the holiday season on the DVXuser Battery...
Usual price is 79 dollars. We will sell them until the end of the year for $59 per battery. That's 20 bucks off per battery.... Our way of giving back :)
You don't have to enter any coupon code or anything... The price is fixed at 59 bucks per battery until the end of the year.

oh... and the additional 5 dollars per battery savings when ordering 4 or more batteries still applies on top of this... so 59 per battery, and 54 per battery if ordering 4 or more batteries at once.

Jason any news if a battery is going to be developed by you guys for the hmc150?
Jason Ramsey

we haven't heard good enough news from our manufacturers yet.... We could certainly sell a hmc150 battery, but not one that would be up to our standards... It'd be like all the other 3rd party batteries for it right now and not communicate with the camera like the originals do, and I think require it's own charger, etc.
same story as of right now with the gh1 and 7d as well..
but, as soon as that changes, you guys will be the first to know :)

Why is it so challenging for manufacturers to make batteries that communicate with the camera?

b/c camera makers like to make it so 3rd party batteries don't work in their cameras....

I know why camera makers develop proprietary batteries. What I don't understand is why third party manufacturers can't take one and duplicate it. It's not rocket surgery, is it?

Hey. sorry if I've missed your email. I'll check my inbox as well as your order number and see what's up.
I was sick last week, and then the weather this week kinda has me behind though.
If your's hasn't gone out yet, I'll throw in a free reduser shirt or something and refund your shipping if you'll let me know your shirt size.

benbixby

Yes they will work in the HPX170s. I run a few of these in my DVX100B, HVX200A, and HPX170.

how many hours does this battery last?
Jason Ramsey

long time. which camera would you be using it with?
This is an old quote, but should still be relevant and will give you a bit of an idea:
In our tests, they lasted over 5 hours of constant 24pa recording, with the LCD closed and EVF on.
The table below are best case results, so you may have better or worse run time depending on how much you zoom and use the TFT display, FF/RW, standby etc.
They got 5hrs 04min with that configuration, compared to an hour 12 with the stock 1600mah panny battery for the dvx at the time.
One way you can kinda get an idea is whatever the size of your current battery is.... (ours are 5600)...
So, here's a random example for illustration purposes. Let's say I had a 3200mah battery that gave me 2 hours of battery life under my typical use on x camera. Then, on the same camera the dvxuser battery (being 5600) would give you 2x the battery life under the same conditions since it is 5600 vs 3200.
I always got maybe around 3 hours at least on my HVX with a dvxuser battery with regular use, LCD open sometimes, etc, etc (going off of a vague memory here, but a few hours seems to be my memory of it).

you said that the batteries don't communicate with the camera correctly? what doesn't it communicate? and is that only for the HMC 150 or is that for all?
Jason Ramsey

our batteries are fine with the camera's they work for.
HMC150 uses a different battery than the dvx/hvx/etc. we don't carry a battery for the hmc150 due to there not being any reliable options for that yet.
