It's a handle (and nothing more) - FAR from a Steadicam.

i actually used one of the DIY steadicams with an old dvx i used a few years ago... it is fine but not all that sturdy

One of the oldest budget steady cams is a 2X4. You mount the camera in the center, and have two guys operate it. Works great on everything but whip pans.

I can't locate it now, but I've seen similar ones for half the price. Can't attest to results, however.

One of the oldest budget steady cams is a 2X4. You mount the camera in the center, and have two guys operate it. Works great on everything but whip pans.
Or make it 22 inches long, stick handles on it, and operate it by yourself.
