7D use Canon 50mm f/1.8

I assume in the first one you were lighting for the 7D, because the exposure on the 5D and RED are way off?

But the GH-1 vs 7D is a big surprise. GH-1... =( I miss you so much.

In what way?

Gh-1 looks much better to my eyes, at least in the Vimeo frame. And I still think it's the better overall camera. Just didn't have what I need right now aka VIDEO OUT and easy post workflow.

But yeah, int he video, GH-1 looks like the better image to me. Go figure.

i just got my 7D last week.. for GH-1.. it's a big question for me now.. sell or not to sell

on FCP, i see GH1 have a less moire than 7D, but i like 1080 from 7D a lot

and my rough transcode for RED stuff is not good.. i will post another clip after i grade it on post studio

The 7D looked flatter than usual in the GH-1 comparison (almost milky like). Did you do that on purpose? Even the Red footage looked funny.

i try to reduce contrast and sharpness all way down, like i use to do to with my gh1..

and i think it also has to do with the focus thing (or maybe my glasses eye).. i really need a viewfinder

and for RED footage, that's my rough transcode direct from my laptop, i will post another clip after grade it

...I figured that. :) It just seemed to me that the GH-1 was as its best while both the Red and the 7D were..hum hum.

But keep on keepin on.....I like tests like these....

hee.. i will for sure.. because right now i have to decide, do i have to sell GH1 or not..

so i really need to prove GH1 is a good match for those two big boys from Canon, but at the end my Bank account say it's to much to have all of them

oh boy here we go... why don't we try to test it with same angle, set, etc as much as possible.

Shows exactly what I noticed when shooting GH1/ 7D side by side: Compared to the 7D, the GH1 was quite contrasty, even with everything down all the way.
In some instances, I think the extra contrast makes it look sharper though.

Besides the workflow, the thing that really tipped the scales for me was banding and mud. GH1 is pretty bad in that regard.

They all have their quirks, funkiness, and workarounds though.

The GH1 should be in the 1080p comparison. It would probably beat all of them easily.

yeah.. from my experience yesterday, trying to do a test for all the camera in a real project environment it's a little bit hard.. but yes, i need to see more from this cameras with same angle, set, etc

Eh...I hope people noticed the 7d was @ ISO 320 and the GH1 was @ ISO 100, as well having slightly different contrast and color tone options. It also had a faster lens (1.4 vs 1.8) which makes up for some of it, but there's still rather a difference. What I got from this was that both cameras perform well, but the richer, more contrasty image on the GH1 was what you would expect with those settings.

In every test I've seen GH1 comes out on top when it comes to resolution.
My feeling shooting with these cameras is that the 7D gives a more constant quality and the GH1 can excel and disappoint sometimes. Mud is not a real issue because it happens very seldom but fnp in lowlight is why I prefer the 7D for such shots.

In pure resolution GH1 is superior imho even in 720p. I can't choose so I'm keeping both and use them according to what I'm doing.
