Hi all,

I haven't yet taken the plunge into the world of DSLR movie making, though I'm starting to think I'll make my next camera a DSLR - which one, I've yet to decide.

One of the things that has held me back slightly is purely a design aspect. I've been looking around to see if anyone makes a separate electronic viewfinder unit that can connect to say the 7D, so that I can put the camera in low places without having to lay on the ground to be able to monitor the LCD screen. Call me a traditionalist but I sort of like having a moveable eye piece that I can put in a comfortable position!

Does anyone know of an EVF that can attach to any of these DSLR's? And here's the rub, does anyone know of one that won't break the bank?

or, as an afterthought, are there any other optical viewfinders like the P+S Technik one for the SI2K that might work on these?

7D can be connected to a monitor, so you could use any monitor for that...

GH1 has an articulating LCD to get around the issue, but can't be connected to a monitor for live viewing.

Also has an EVF :)

Anyway the answer to your questions: does something exist? Yeah I'm pretty sure it probably does...I haven't found anything doing cursorey searches yet...but I know lots of cameras use prioritary removable ones that plug in...the question is is there one that uses something more standard like composite or HDMI.

Will it break the bank?
Of course. All production monitor stuff is really expensive.

The RED EVF is $3,000 (of course it's a really niche product)

My Ikan production monitor is near $700 or more I think...not sure, I didn't have to buy it..
