I've tried everything. I spent $20 at the local RadioShack and I can not get my zoom knob to work right.

I'm testing with Alagator clips first. All the knob does is Zoom out. I've tried everything and I can't get it to zoom in. I've tried a varible resister and a Potentiometer, they both only make the cam zoom out. Record button is not a problem, works fine.

Has anyone else had this problem or can recommend a spacific Potentiometer to use? Mine looks JUST like the one in the picture in the instrutions.

I'm doing a shoot this weekend and it would be great to get this baby hooked up.

Thanks a million.

it sounds like you got the wrong pot knob.. when you turn it at what point does it start to zoom out?

I just built one tonight and I haven't been able to find a 20k potentiometer locally and most electonics suppliers want a minimum order, so I purchased a 50k linear pot and a 25k Rheostat. The 50k pot works both directions but a lot of play on either end and very sensitive in the middle (which was to be expected.) To get to the point, and hopefully help you with your problem, the Rheostat only works in one direction, it wont zoom in. Did you get a Rheostat instead of a linear potentiometer?

Hope this helps!

Get a 47K resistor and put it in parallel with the connections on the 50K pot and disconnect the rheostat. This will bring the total resistance down to the 20K range and should work fine.

Also be sure you are using one outside connection and the middle connection on the pot.
