I was AC on an epic scifi short that just wrapped. My good friend the DP just got the 7D on day 3 of the shoot and decided to shoot the rest of the film on it.

The first 2 days were underground at night. And we shot those with my SGpro and a Z1P in its pseudo 25p mode. The rest of the shoot was after he goes outside. So hopefully the jump from awesome soft grainy filmic to hyper real clean super crisp won’t be jarring.

We shot in 1080p25 w 1/50 shutter. Using my Nikon primes and a cheap ebay EOS adapter. All the handheld shots in the film (not the tests) were shot with my shoulder mount setup.

Primes where 28mm f2 AIS, 35mm f2 AI, 50mm f1.4 AI (modified to fit), 85mm f2 AIS

Any way. Here are some random clips mixed with BTS and tests. I’m the idiot getting slapped, fly kicking the sign and dropping to my knees in the “Jesus lighting” at the end :)

loved it. the stuff of the space man was awsome! Second to last shot was extremely cinematic for me.

His spacesuit looked very real. Nice job.

Are you lot doing the Melbourne 48hour in a few weeks?

papa, there's a flare in that shot from a light. one of the perks/disadvantages of using full frame lenses is things flare out the lens that are way out of shot :)

leep, it's a proper space suit for movies. not a real one obviously but we think it might have been the same one from Farscape. i think it was about $200/week

the Melbourne 48hour???? got a link?

this things gonna be in post for while. there’s a day of picups already planned. some bluescreen studio stuff which will take a couple of days. plus the entire film is being ADR'ed and foleyed. and then there's all the compositing and the original music score and the colourgrading etc....

then if it all comes together… it hits the festival circuit. So it should be online in about 3 years time :)
