Will this work for video on the 7D?

It's a Canon Manual lens.

I've read conflicting reports.

Thanks!

Sad to say, but no(ish)

The flange focal is too short to make an adapter.

There are some special adapters with a lens built in that will refocus the light to the correct distance, but those are more expensive and come with the penalty of decreased resolution do to the additional lens.

Your best bet is to go Nikon. Cheap adapters and plentiful lenses on the nikon side. I got my adapter for $10 and I picked up a cheap E series 50mm lens at the flea market for $15. I'm very, very happy with it.

if you will try to convert some of them by replacing threads to lets say m42 then you will most likely hit the mirror with it.It is possible to do but most of the time not easy and not safe.

Thanks for the responses. Looking at Nikons now.
