Just got back from shooting a music video. Artist's name is A.L.G. This is his first music video and HE LEARNED A LOT! Mostly that you can't really depend on friends when your friends are a bunch of superficial club hoppers LOL. I kept on warning him about how flakey people are and that you have to stay on top of them or nothing gets done. Well, almost everything he had lined up fell through one way or another. Fortunately what did come through I was very happy with and what didn't come through I tired to guerilla. Mainly the club he had lined up kept on getting pushed back. I was there 3 days allready and couldn't stay out there any longer. I anticipated it not working out and told him since he is friends with the owner and staff, just ask them if it's ok if your "photographer" takes some pictures in there, hehe!! I LOVE DSLRs.
I had to shoot some high ISOs, up to 1600, so it's noisier than I would have liked but it's still realy nice, me likes!
For the performance scenes I used the kit lens 28-135, which is a little contrasty but decently sharp and nice colors. I also used the 18-55mm kit lens from my T1i, I hate this lens but needed the wide end. I have the 17-55 f2.8 coming this week, can't wait. ISOs were between 400-1250, really could have used faster lenses especially for the 720p stuff where the shutter was 1/125.
Club (guerilla) scenes were shot with the 50mm f1.8, it was 60p so I had the shutter at 1/100 (1/125 was too dark, 1/00 not that much better but it's something) and the ISO at 1600

This is just a real quick test edit

Very cool, Cola!

(And you'll love that 17-55 lens you've got coming. It hardly ever comes off my 7D.)

I like where you're going with this man, the lighting works with the music.

Thnx a lot guys. If I can settle on a grading look and edit style, hopefully I'll be done by the weekend.
Yeah Stephen I'm dying for the 17-55 2.8 to get here, the 18-55 is killing me, I love the dramatic look of a wide close up but the 18-55 is just too soft, and the 28-135 is too long :(

Thanks for the tech info. Your footage looks great. I'm on the fence with this camera (or the 5D)......full sensor or 24p???????

I'll be honest with you, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the 5D's image. But native 24p is a big deal to me, and not to mention the price difference.

Yea, I'm in the same boat. I definitely favor 24p over the full sensor. However, once I buy the 7D, they will put 24p into the 5DmkII....(yea, I'm the one....like the camera buying equivalent to "The Cooler", lol). Again, very nice footage.

Well then it's your duty to buy a 7D so all those poor 5D owners can FINALLY get 24p, can't believe you've been the hold up this whole time! :)

17-55 is nice and sharp at all focal lengths. 5d will get 24p in about 6 months or so it seems; however, I would imaging pretty horrible jello to be in store for it.

The footy of the quick and dirty edit looks wicked. Can't wait to see the final version
