Quick edit I put together from some of the footage we shot on for my friends documentary. There was a little jellovision when I was shooting inside the cabin because the seas were rough, but all in all the 7D performed really well!
I even got some usable audio from the onboard mic that I had to keep from when the sound recorder wasn't running.

There will be lots more...this was just day one of what will end being 16-20 weekends worth of shooting.
The subject of the doc is a little heavy, so it was nice to get started with something fun...although looking at the subject in the viewfinder and seeing the sea going up and down, up and down behind him made me a little queasy.
I ended up ordering a loupe, which didn't come in time for this trip...it should be MUCH easier shooting outside once I get one.

Rob - great work - I loved it.
Great detail shots on the boat - really dug the quick shot of the lure hanging off the end of the rod... and that shot of him looking around with all the birds flying behind him.
And yeah - after shooting a few gigs with the 7D myself, I've come to the conclusion that a Zfinder (or something like it) is a necessity - especially for shooting outdoors.
Great work - keep it up!
And thanks for posting it.

I just ordered the cavision, which will tide me over until I have some cash to throw towards a Z finder. For this shoot I took the hoodman I use on my HVX LCD screen, put some velcro on a tripod slide plate and jerry rigged it to the camera. It didn't work all that well, and I was screwing with it every couple of minutes, but it got the job done...now if only my cavision showed up in the mail before we have day two of the doc shoot tomorrow!
