Dear friends
Please take a moment and watch my latest clip

My aim was to abuse DOF and test 720/50p slowed down.
Master to Cineform AVI.
No color correction or other picture manipulation was done.
Lens used:
Samyang 85mm f/1.4
Samyang 8mm f/3.5 (one shot only)
Filters: Format ND 6, 9
Thanks, and if you can, please download and watch it on a big screen.

Very nice, Johnnie.
Looks like you're really enjoying both the 7D and those sweet-looking Samyang lenses.

Thanks, SM,
Yes, having fun shooting here. My weakest link so far is the Z-finder, it is not what I was hoping for.
You can not beat performance/price of the Samyang lenses. I hope more people will give them a try.
Thanks again.

They're branded Vivitar here in the US, I think. I'll definitely pick up that 85mm.
On the Z-Finder…wow. Really? What exactly were you disappointed in? Just curious, as it's become one of the two pieces of gear (along with a shoulder/stabilizer) that I wouldn't shoot without.

Either my Z is defected or, that is the way it should be :(

J -
I'm not sure what to tell you about your Z-Finder. I agree, dust may be an issue over time, but mine seems relatively solid and well-sealed. The red diopter wheel on mine feels pretty tight, and unlikely to spin without me putting some force into spinning it. And while the 7D screen may not be as high-res as I'd like, the Z-Finder, combined with the 5x and 10x zoom/focus-assist, has allowed me to nail focus on every shot.
You might get in touch with Zacuto and let them know about your issues.
And again, as with the Vienna piece, beautiful work.

I believe it is, JC. But don't buy the last one, or I may have to drive to Houston and cut you.

LOL let's not do that, looks like they have four left!
I'm getting the 17-55 2.8 and the 50 1.4 first. It'll be a minute before I get to that but it's on my list now! Thnx for the heads up cause I was seraching everywhere for that Samyang 85 1.4

Looks lovely, nice work. As an aside, I also bought that 85mm lens just now :) In my case I got the Opteka version. Samyang manufactures them but they are rebadged variously as Vivitar, Rokinon, and Opteka (and maybe some others, I'm not sure). Opteka version in Nikon mount was $254 shipped on Amazon, incredible value!

YES! Thnx for the tip!
There it is for the Canon

EDIT: Damnit the focus ring turns the other way! I hate going back and forth on that. The Vivitar looks like it turns the same way as the Canon lenses

First, thank you all for your warm words and for watching the video, highly appreciated!
Regarding the lens...
Getting so many question regarding the lens, I contacted Samyang again asking about this "re branding thing".
The answer was, yes indeed Samyang is present in the market with different brand names, but to assure quality they recommend buying directly from Samyang. (Google Samyang, the home page is European but they ship world wide, no problem).
Hope it help.
