Okay so the Z-Finder is quite expensive and backordered until November. I'd like to know what people would recommend as far as more standard 'loupes' or magnifiers?

How about cheap monitor solutions?

I haven't been impressed with the Hoodman "loupe" products. The Cavision one looks pretty interesting, depending on how you tend to shoot.

And the SmallHD monitor looks like a really nice piece of kit. Probably worth a look.

Waiting isn't the problem for me. It's money unfortunately. Dunno if I can justify putting $400 on the Z-Finder...looks like a damn good product though.

Same boat here. I know its built to last a lifetime, and no doubt will...I just don't know if I will be shooting on DSLRs for all that long...

I have the SockLoupe as well. Bought it for the EX1, and I most definitely do not recommend it.

Anyone want to buy a hardly-used SockLoupe? :D

The SmallHD DP1, while an excellent choice, is not what I would call "cheap." The pricing is similar to Ikan and a little bit lower than Marshall. The best value is Manhattan LCD. I own one, and it's all right.

I still wanna know if that Cavision Loupe is strictly limited to 6x magnification, or if it can be stepped down to 2x, 3x, etc...

Here is a link to the Cavision Loupe for those that haven't seen it:

the Cavision looks kind of interesting. Has anyone got any experience with it?
