Just saw that Z-Finders are now back-ordered until November 7 on Zacuto's site. You may want to get one from another supplier while you can...

I'll put money on the fact that it's probably because so many people are ordering them because of the 7D.

I'm in Chicago, and I can understand that the people at Zacuto go through a lot, and I'm sure if you are patient, and nice, regarding your orders it wont hurt your case.

I have a question, why are they $400? it just a eye cup and a magnifying glass.. i really want one but.. c'mon.
Sorry if i upset some zacuto fans.. but seriously.

They're $400 because they are NOT an eye cup and magnifying glass.

I'm not any company's fanboy, but until you've used a Z-Finder, you just don't get it.

They're the same company that charges $300 for a Professional iPhone Grip.

There's a price to pay for top quality, just make sure you need that top quality. There's always someone out there who will make it cheaper with slight compromises

1. Schneider Optics
2. Lifetime Warranty (which, according to anecdotal evidence, covers pretty much everything except "I intentionally destroyed it")
3. Zacuto Branding

If I was sure I'd be using a 3" screen for more than 8 months, I'd buy one. I still might - rumors were that there was to be a "fixed" version that would be less expensive. Dunno what happened with that.

Maybe I'll storm into Zacuto rolling my 7d, put on my best British accent and chat up the ladies a bit. Worked for Mr. Bloom.

Cheers. Now sell me a Zfinder!

if you're going to get one, get the anti fog wipes. don't question it, just do it. i'm not a heavily perspiring dude, and i don't get very hot, but that sucker can and will fog up on you.

For what it's worth I am disappointed with the Z-finder because:

1-Apparently magnifying the LCD shows it weakness not being sharp enough. (not Z finder problem).
2-The red diopter wheel will spin forever until you maybe think you got the right eye focus (and it is hard because of reason no. 1).
3-The way the diopter is built, it screws in and out of the finder body. (see the attached picture) I am sure in no time that place will be full of dust making it harder to operate.

Saying that, I had no better option to buy now.

Thanks.

Big plus 1 here.

Once you try one you'll see why.

i wonder if anyone will make an adapter that would allow HDMI mini to go to iphone and use the iphone as an external screen. Im guessing because of lower resolution of hte iphone you culd only display the center of the shot, but for keeping focus that would be awesome.

Has anyone tried that LCDVF7D?

You need to have good eyes with that one cuz it doesn't have a diopter adjustment.
