OK, so obviously I am leaning towards a 7d purchase but I really want to minimize the accessory spend, as it's a lot of money for me. I'm lucky enough to own an old Nikon SLR with 3 lenses in decent condition:

Nikkor 24mm 1:2.8
Nikkor 50mm 1:2
Nikkor 80-200mm 1:4.5

I know I've been 'yah, kit lens is cool', and I think I'll probably go for the EF 28-135mm since it's only $200 more. So this means 1 moderately fast moderately wide, one fast medium, 1 so-so, but modern, zoom and one slowish but flexible zoom.

Does this seem to you like a sensible non-specialty selection? I don't need the most perfectly sharp image or best-in-class lens technology, but am interested in your low-budget lens hero suggestions, or indeed 'looks great but it's awful' warnings.

I'm shooting with nikon glass and have the 24/2.8, what a great lens.

I would pass on the 50/1.2 and get the 50/1.4 its much cheaper and even better at certain f stops
Plus with video you will never be pulling focus at 1.2.

I bought both 50mm nikons and ran a bunch of tests a while back using the GH1

That's useful JD, thanks. (edit - misunderstanding cured then I read the GH1 test post).
