Just wondering if anyone has used the Spiderbrace with the 7D (or any other camera really):

If so, how did it perform? Was is comfortable?

Also, anyone considering a Spiderbrace as their 7D shoulder-mount?

I'm caught between the Spiderbrace and the indiRAILSpro DSLRsm:

I bought the Indierails DSLRsm, never tried the spiderbrace. From looking at it though, here are some things to keep in mind - if you plan on adding a mattebox or heavier lenses, the spiderbrace doesn't appear to offer much in the way of counterbalance to the back of the unit. May be an easy fix though.

It doesn't appear that the handles on the spiderbrace are adjustable - I think this may be an important feature on any rig, as we're all sized differently. The Indierails has lots of adjustability with handle placement, angles and camera placement and height.

The rails on the indierails gives you the option of adding other things like a follow focus to the rig. Not sure if that is possible with the spiderbrace.

The spiderbrace is very inexpensive though - and if you only plan on using a shoulder mount occassionaly, it would probably suffice.

I've only had the DSLRsm for a few days though - so I can't comment on the durability of the thing. I would have prefered aluminum rod over carbon fiber I think...

the spider brace works very well with just the camera, but forget addons.

If it's between those two, get the indiRAILS. I own a first gen spiderbrace and it only works if you do not move... at all... whatsoever. Its too light on its own and needs more weight on/over your shoulder to adequately balance any camera in front of you. The 7D requires a very STEADY hand. The Manfrotto 561BHDV is a great alternative to either though, so is the Redrock EyeSpy Shouldermount or the Zacuto Rapid Fire.
