Has this happened to anyone else out there?

I've run into this a bunch of times. Happens pretty much randomly. Best way to describe it was to show it, Via Snow Leopard's cool new QuickTime Screen Capture feature.

Simple A - B keyframed grading as far as I'm aware.

I've tried to re-do the keyframing to only have it repeat the same problem. Not sure what I could do to fix this. IMO this is a pure bug, not user error on my part?? Doesn't matter what format is being graded, I've seen this happen on SD footage too.

LOL!! I've seen 3-4 hour render estimates for very short clips but never 5 weeks!

How long have you let it run before canceling? Does the estimate change if you let it run for 30-45 seconds or does it remain 5 weeks?

I'm not talking about my signature, I'm talking about the You Tube video.

Once a gain I stumble upon the cause soon after as I post the question.. I should post these questions a lot sooner, it would save me so much troubleshooting time!!!

FYI To understand what's going on requires some backstory on the clip itself.

The clip I'm working on has an exposure problem where it's underexposed to compensate for the strong natural light coming from the window. Of course I do ask the videographer to try to underexpose more then overexpose, as it's easier to fix and make it look passable, so he did his job right. ( budget & time limits the amount of control we have on lighting. so hold those critisims. We make due with what we resources have to work with )

Moving on.... I'll generally fix this underexposure with luminance & gamma fixes. For the most part it works quite well. This clip we also want to create a mood change in color grading. So we're combining two corrections, the luminance change and the color grading change, in the same clip. No big deal...

The Luminance change needs to *roll out* as the talent walks through the scene and into the offending window light. Coincidentally, I also want the color grading change to occur at about he same time in the clip to support the storyline transition that happens in the shot.

The Problem : Combining a color grading change in the same secondary room & keyframe as a luminance change ( at least on the highlights in this case ) cause Color to do some funny math to get from A to B. Remove the luminance keyframing change, and the color grading change acts as normal. The luminance keyframing will need to be done in a second "secondary" room.

So there it is, as an FYI heads up for everyone. And troubleshooting for anyone else who runs into this. ( I can't be the only one. ) This is clearly a software bug, and I've reported it to Apple's feedback page. But there is a workaround for now.
