Hi,

So I burned a project onto DVD with DVDSP, the movie seems fine in simulation but after I burned it onto a DVD it wouldn't play my and my friend's logos, both are made with Motion with multiple layers of fades and motion etc... I kept forcing the DVD player to play it and it seems like the logos are too complicated for the DVD player to play or something. I press play and it plays for like a couple of frames and stops. I press play again and same thing - kinda like it's scratched only it's not. any idea?

I tested it on my iMac, normal DVD player and my PlayStation 2 - the results are slightly different but bottom line is they pretty much freeze after a couple of frames...

Also, it wouldn't play on a PC, but that's hardly my primary concern.

Every other aspects of the DVD is fine: menus, chapters, audio, video etc.

I have FCS 2.

I used Compressor to produced the mpeg2 and AC3.

Thanks

What was the encode rate for the video assets?

How long was the video in total minutes?

And do you encode the audio to ac3/dolby2 or leave it as uncompressed aiff?

Finally, how did you play the DVD on the PCs? Using the windows media player or a dedicated DVD player?

Hi David,

I tried it twice, same result. Once using 4:3 Best quality and the other fastest encode, 90 minutes. I didn't change any of the settings, just used the Apple default ones under the list for DVD.

The whole thing is around 50 something mins. The video is about 2.3 GB.

Audio - I tried both AIFF (about 600 MB's) and AC3 (70 something MB's) - same result.

My PC is odd - when I pop a DVD in there the DVD player is supposed to show up but when I put this one in there it didn't, WMP started running instead. On my Mac my DVD player runs.

*I thought it might have been because my logo had multiple video/audio tracks. Initially I got lazy and placed my logo in a separate, mini-sequence and put that mini-sequence into my master sequence, My master seq has several video/audio tracks suppressed so I thought that might've resulted in a conflict so I re-exported the video with my logo tracks as is but the result is the same.

Would it be because I'm using cheap DVD's?

Thanks

I fixed it. Thanks.

I had previously inadvertently clicked on "Pause after each VOBU" for the first chapter marker.

Silly me.
