View Full Version : Changes in new DVD SP?

I've authored a fair few DVDs for clients over the years, and have never had a problem. But this is the first one I am doing for a client since I upgraded to the new FC Suite.

I am getting a barely noticeable bit of video noise, mostly on transitions, that I have never seen before. I always test my master DVD on 3 players (From really cheap to pretty good) to check for glitches, and I am getting a few hiccups on the cheap one.

Is there something about the compression settings in DVD SP that have changed with this version? I can't seem to figure this out. I have never seen anything like this on any of the DVDs I've burned before.

Thanks

DVDSP is virtually unchanged in FCS 3.

My bad....I imported the QT file directly in SP4 instead of encoding through compressor first.

Long night....Thanks.

Seems like Compressor is always worth the trip...

Yep. There are times when I don't notice a difference with a casual viewing. If I am doing a rough cut or something like that, I may just use the QT file. But for delivery I go through compressor. I especially notice the difference with dissolves and other transitions.

I still am confused about whether it is better to go to Compressor directly from FCP, or output to QT first and then got to Compressor....but what can ya do.

I always go straight to Compressor. Better to get it right the first time I figure...

But I can't say for sure that that's the best solution, at least not in all cases...
