I am running FCP on my MacBook pro and im trying to set my Video out DVI-HDMI on a Samsung 1080p LCD. Now most of what I shoot is 720p 24pn on the HVX-200. I can not get a play back on my LCD. All it lets me do is show current frame. Now is it doing this becuase I am at 24p? Will it only output if im playing at 30p? Also would I be better off going Firewire out of my laptop to my HVX-200 then Component from camera to my LCD?? Which would I be better off with? Will it even work this way??

Hard to say- but the key thing is play something the LCD can handle. Instead of sending direct out of FCP try mirroring your desktop to the monitor and see if that makes a viable signal. Then you could encode a quicktime and play that out full screen. Assuming you want this for screening not editing. If it's for editing within I'd suggest getting a proper output device such as:

It connects via Expresscard slot (so that means you need an ExpressCard slot). I believe it's $995. Otherwise have you considered a DVI or DisplayPort to HDMI cable- that might do the trick too.

Sure stick with the HDMI cable. Good or cheap- pick one. :)

No it should- you would set up your desktop to not mirror in Displays. Make sure the HDMI is properly connecting to the LCD and sending a visible signal. Then in FCP set Desktop Cinema Display to second monitor and show all frames. Whether it actually works depends on the power of your laptop on your LCD's input compatiblity. Like I said- this is a far from ideal solution and why the I/O Express is worth every penny.
